About Women In Collaboration
Women in Collaboration is a networking event for women in business. Our events are open, if you are employed or a business owner, WIC network has a wide variety of businesses from different sectors. We attract all types of business, from part time to full time, from new to established businesses, sole traders to corporate businesses.
Attendees of WIC events are encouraged to support and promote each other through collaboration and the sharing of business contacts and opportunities.
WIC monthly evening event which are free to attend and are hosted in a laid-back environment, in a different venue every month across Teesside.

Ellie Rees – Founder WIC
Hi, I’m Ellie and I set up women in collaboration after being frustrated by the lack of events for Women in Business in Teesside. I was 20 when I started networking, as a young woman in the business world I was quite anxious. This was added to by being one of the only females at a number of events I was attending, this was not only gutting but also confusing as I knew there were so many successful business women across Teesside. I wanted to find female role models and likeminded individuals I could exchange advice with, find ladies to help grow my network and collaborate with.
Not only were the events I was attending male dominated but they also lacked versatility and I felt all I was gettting out of them were business cards and a few LinkedIn connections. They felt very impersonal & forced. I wanted to put the social back into networking which is why I decided to set up my own networking event.
My background is blogging, I’ve been a successful North East blogger for the past 7 years and built up a large following on social media which lead to my first business Collab Media which is a social media consultancy based in Teesside. I’ve been attending blog events and business launch events since being 19 which I think has helped me develop a perfect formula for networking events.
Fast forward to 2018 and Women In Collaboration was created, after realising the networking industry was only slowly changing with the first Tees business Women awards only happening in November 2018!
